Found this comment on the Daily Express website, and just had to reproduce it here.

The Poster has summed up in a few paragraphs what most of us have been thinking for ages;

Today the British announced they are running out of grit. Something the rest of the World noticed some time ago They claim to have enough grit for three days, at least they haven't run out of wishful thinking and that is the problem. It isn't the snow that has brought this once great country to its knees, that is just an outward sign of a greater malaise.This is a country that once ruled most of the world a country that developed trade and created wealth. Now it has lost its way.Its industries have gone many of its people are unemployed or in low paying jobs that create no real wealth for Britain. The Empire was lost years ago and it has been a downhill slide ever since. Britain is now a satellite of Europe with no control over matters that it should control. The Government doesn't listen to the people and the people have lost their grit along with the grit that should be on the roads. That is why heavy snowfalls have closed Britain it wasn't open for business before the first snowflake touched down.

That's right, Jackie, they have been using TABLE SALT....the exact same stuff you use in cooking and at the dining table!

Hang on, I think I've got an old packet of SAXO in my cupboard....I'll gladly throw that in for them....and it won't cost them a penny!!!!

We always used ashes from our open fires. Very effective. Smile

Jackie, I still have an airgun pellet in my right knee, where I was shot as a kiddie, when playing Cowboys and Indians!

The doctors wouldn't remove it due to the area it lodged, and if I look closely I can still see it buried just below the skin.

It doesn't hurt or bother me one bit.

I call it "My War Wound".
