Giant Mosque Funded by Taxpayers
Don't know if you have heard about this but Ken Livingstone is planning to use tax payer's money to build an enormous mosque costing an estimated 100M in the docklands. What do you think about it?
Wouldn't it be better to spend the money on a new hospital or improved transport facilities??
BIGGER THAN ST PAULS!!! The plan is for the mosque to be so big that people flying in from all over the world for the 2012 Olympics will it see it as the biggest landmark in London , bigger than St Pauls, Westminster Abbey or Wembley Stadium!!!!!!
Take a second to sign the petition!!!

I have signed the petition also and took part in a vote on the grumpy old sods website.
If they want a big mosque built they they should raise the funds for it themselves not expect the british taxpayer to foot the bill.
I tottaly agree with Sylvia on this one, the money that is intended for this mosque would be better spent on the NHS or the transport system.
And they can jump up and down and burn the british flag all they want, if they don't like it go to another country. _________________ One sure way for evil to prevail, is for the good to do nothing.
Well done Louise, glad you had an input into this discussion, thanks for that. Not so sure about 'The Grumpy Old Sods' Website though Lou. I mean that's going a bit too far, don't you think. Grumpy - YES!
Sods -YES! but Old - No, no no no no!
Anyway Louise, two out of three aint bad.
Us? Old?. Naw, we're just maturing nicely like a good Scotch Whisky or a Vintage Port, or a nice mature piece of Stilton!
Some of us are also growing old disgracefully as well. I mean to say, OAP's on ASBO's? Whatever Next?
Shocking, that's what it is, shocking! _________________ http://sewardchronicles.ning.com/

Government response to petition 'ScrapMegaMosque'
The epetition asking the Prime Minister to Abolish plans to build a £100 million mega Mosque is still ongoing. This is a response from the Government in advance of the closing date.
Under planning legislation, local planning authorities are responsible for the day to day control of development in their area. In doing so they are required to take into account all material considerations including the views of interested persons and particularly local communities.
With respect to the proposal associated with a site near the Olympic development in Newham, we understand from Newham Council that there is no current planning permission or application for a mosque and Newham Council do not expect a planning application in the near future.
The Government believes that where controversial issues such as this arise, all involved should ensure that discussions are conducted in a manner that respects the views of all sections of our communities and in a way that does not raise tensions in local areas.
