They have made TWO mistakes in their documentary, which is, they have called me Maisie Evans but my single name was Johnson and my married one is Walker. Plus they said it will be our Golden wedding this month which is also wrong it will be our Diamond wedding.
The photos shown is one of me and my mother sitting on the local park and the other was when we went to the station to say 'Goodbye' to my eldest brother who was shipped out to Burma.
It was summer of 1941 when both photos were taken. I did not see my brother again until 1946.

Click on the above and go to "Watch the latest programme" slide the button across when the video comes up until it is just on the end of the sports report roughly to about just over an inch from the end of the tape. It will then take you to the TV interview.

It was lovely to see you, Maisie, and to share your memories with you. I had to download new "plugins" so I could watch you. (My earlier version of "Real Player" was out of date).

I was also watching a programme about Evacuees on BBC Four the other evening, and it suddenly dawned on me why an old friend of mine (whose sadly no longer with us) behaved the way she did. She could never settle in one place for very long, as she had been evacuated as a child and returned to London by herself (twice) and then her London house was bombed ot, not just once, but THREE times!!!!!!
Shocked

Hi Sandie,
Glad you managed to see the video.

So many children were split from their families during those bleak years. Some very badly treated too. I was lucky because I had my mother with me and woe betide anyone who upset her.   Smile  She was a timebomb on two legs.  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing
