As you may well know I have just had a month in hospital. A fortnight in the Leicester Royal and another fortnight in Loughborough Hospital.
I hope to God I NEVER have to go in the Royal again.
They lost my teeth the first night I was there and I needed them to eat the blasted soup because it was SO thick and baked on the steel dishes I needed a chisel to get the stuff from round the edges. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

If you needed a bedpan you were left for over 3/4 of an hour on it which can be excrutiating if you have a broken hip as well as a broken arm.
Most of the nurses were very good but overworked.
I came across one very nasty one who rather belittled the dear old lady, aged 96, in the bed next bed to me and it got my back up.
I just let fly into the nurse and told her IF she wasn't cut out to be a nurse with her attitude she should give it up. PLUS the lady had been through TWO world wars and I wasn't going to let her get away with it.
I told her I already had a big complaint about them losing my teeth but her name would be down on the complaints form too. Evil or Very Mad

Consequently the said nurse refused to do anything for me and I told her in no uncertain words what to do with herself.

She soon knuckled down though because she followed Chrissy, the lovely coloured nurse, into my cubicle and spoke to me very nicely.
I have a feeling someone in charge had heard the shindig and rebuked her for her attitude. Wink

Will be back later to tell another tale that happened in that very same hospital.

Seems like you had a pretty rough time there Maywalk,
Although the NHS is overstreched these days it is no excuse
for bad attitude towards patients.
Hope you got your teeth back eventually.
Must be a releif to home
Recovering well I Hope.
Take care.

Hi Dorramae,
NO I did not get my teeth back, I had to have a dental tehnician come to the house when I got home to make me some more, which have cost me £580 because they were done privately.
I was not able to get to the place where he usually works because of my injuries.
I have heard at last from the insurance and have just sent the letter accepting the payment they are going to make.

I certainly NEVER want to go in the Leicester Royal again.
The morning after my operation they propped me up in bed. I had a saline drip in my right hand, my left arm was in plaster and I had oxygen tubes up my nose.
I was asked what I would like for breakfast. I said I did not like cereals so I would have Ready Brek instead. I was also asked if I wanted fruit and like a twit I said YES thinking thay meant grapefruit. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
The Ready Brek was brought to me STRAIGHT out of the packet with NO milk or sugar. Shocked
PLUS a banana stuck in the hand I had the saline drip in. Shocked
That was my fruit. Shocked
I could neither peel it or bite the skin off the banana with no teeth. Rolling Eyes
Just at that moment the doctor came to me.
I asked him if he had a spare hand because I was sitting there like a bloody redundant monkey with the banana and to make matters worse I had no milk or sugar for the Ready Brek. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
He burst out laughing and said I had done him good.
My reply was "I wish some bugger would do me good and unzip this banana."
The ward was in uproar. Very Happy Laughing Very Happy Laughing Very Happy

The doctor soon got me milk and sugar and he unzipped my banana. Very Happy

Will call in again tomorrow to tell another tale. Laughing
