New years morning I was walking out the front door when I tripped over the step and turned my ankle, Husband scraped me up from the floor, much laughter about taking more water with it, the ankle swelled up but after a couple of days was ok,I could walk without much pain, but over the last couple of weeks it hasn't got any better,in fact I am better walking on it than resting it, because it's when resting like now it feels like someone has given it a hugh kick, has anyone else done anything like this before?

Yes, Jo-Jo. A few years ago I was on a motor-caravan holiday, and I woke up early one morning, it was a beautiful sunrise, and in my delight, jumped down off the rear step of the motorhome. I landed on an uneven grassy tuft, and my right ankle gave way, and I fell heavily. My ankle swelled up, and I bathed it in cold water, (I'd parked up near a stream), and bandaged it tightly. I was on my own, miles from anywhere, and I still had to drive the camper. I was in agony for about three days, although I could still drive, I was in pain the whole time. So I cut my trip short, and returned home.
The following day I intended to visit the doctor, but it felt better, so I never made an appointment.  However, my ankle remained sore and weak for ages afterwards, and even to this day, after walking a distance, it starts "clicking", and still gets sore. Obviously, I didn't break it, but it was very painful. I hope yours gets easier soon.
