Was I ever ready for the breaking news that Tory Candidate Boris Jonhson had won the race to become Mayor of London. There was I with two windows open on my desktop avidly waiting for the winner to be announced, when just before the Midnight Hour, came the news that Londoners had been expecting all day.

Boris Johnson, the blonde, bubbly, and charismatic Tory hopeful has finally knocked Red Ken (Ken Livingstone) of his throne, and has taken up the challange to become the first Tory Mayor of London.

Ken Livingstone had been increasingly coming under scrutiny for his handling of the London econmy, and being unable to say where millions of pounds have gone.

It was Livingstone who brought in the Congestion Charge which he recently expanded Westwards out to Chiswick and other areas. Now, I'm not suggesting for one second that Boris will scrap this charge. It did have the effect of decreasing unnessesary trips into the Capitol, but, for many commuters, it was just another expensive tax, on top of the highest fuel prices in Europe, and even the World.

So, hopefully, we can also say "goodbye" to the unpopular "Bendy Buses" that, whilst a good concept, were totally unsuitable for the narrow and congested London streets.

Yes, it was time for a change, now it remains to be seen how Boris will perform in his new job.

I must admit Sandie, the news about the bendy-buses got me cheering as well ! Boris is supposed to be looking into replacing them with a new type of double decker based along the lines of the venerable Routemaster, let's keep our fingers crossed on that one eh ?

Yes, Ken, those Bendy-Buses are dangerous and totally unsuited for use in London.   A modern "Routie" would be just the ticket, also, they should bring back Conductors. Surprised
