I can remember buying the version of 'Hello Mary Lou' on a 45 by Ricky Nelson back in 61. On the 'flip side' was another good song called 'Travellin' Man'.
My mother didn't like much of my music, but she did like Ricky Nelson and thought he had a warm, mellow voice.

Say Kenneth, your a man of many talents! They are currently auditioning for the X Factor to be shown on our TV's sometime soon, have you thought of applying?
The X Factor has seen some extremely good vocalists and some terrible ones too, but at the end of the day, even those who were not furtunate enough to make the grade, they receive instant recognition and stardom in their own right. Take Chico for instance. He was recalled a number of times and even got in the final ten but was knocked out eventually. The girls loved him and he is making money by going on TV chat shows and even performs in various night clubs - he's recognised by many.
Just a thought Kenneth!

Very nice, Kenneth. Thank you for sharing them with us.

Hi Kenneth, entertain us you do, and very enjoyable it is too.
This may surprise you, but I too learnt to play the elextronic organ. It was a large modern Technics organ and had many different sounds that you could incorporate, such as flute, oboe, accordian, saxaphone, trombone, clarinet, etc and of course a full orchestral sound if you so wished. My favourite was the church organ sound.
My eldest daughter had a musical talent aged five years old and we purchased a cheap organ firstly, to see if it was a five minute wonder, but she progressed with private tuition and took her musical exams with distinctions in theory and practical all grades. Hence we upgraded to a more expensive organ for her. When she was aged 16, sadly she played the organ less and less, as she became more interested in boys of her own age and wanted to go out clubbing with her pals. That's when I decided to learn to play music. I enjoyed playing the instrument, but reading music was rather more difficult.
When my partner and I go to Blackpool, we sometimes sit in the Tower Ballroom sipping our drinks and just savour the melodious sounds of that organ music, it used to be Phil Kelsall at the organ, but I haven't been to Blackpool for quite a few years.
kenkeys
Well Sylvia cd---maybe you`ll let us hear you play ---MUSIC?? THERE`S NOTHING LIKE IT....KENNETH
Sylvia
Kenneth, I used to have the lessons when I was still a married woman and living at home with my family. I've been divorced for 14 years now and left everything, including the Technics organ, for my ex husband and two children.
Haven't played a note in all that time, haven't had the instrument to play on.
Maybe oneday, I'll be in a position to purchase a small keyboard and start taking lessons again, but my £57 benefits won't quite stretch that far just now.
kenkeys
Undferstand of course love----well since you like a church style organ i`ve done just a small recording behind church images--in a storyline----kenneth..

Hi Kenneth, yes that organ sound is beautiful.
Back in the 60's there was a song by Pocul Harem called Whiter Shade of Pale. I loved the organ music in that song, although the words of the song were a bit whacky. I think they were all tripping out on LSD.
Kenneth if you know the music for Whiter Shade of Pale, that would be superb. Ta, Sylvia
Ken R
Procol Harem ! Now you're talking Sylvia
I bet you like the Moody Blues as well ! Music from an age when groups wrote music, played the instruments themselves and could all sing in tune
Sandie Seward
"We skipped the light fandango, turned cartwheels 'cross the floor, the room was spinning harder, and the crowd called out for more".
Wonderful record, Sylvia, so what if the lyrics didn't make much sense, it was that tune, haunting, memoriable, and just great music.
As was the Moody Blue's, 'Forever Autumn', and Thunderclap Newman's 'Something in the air'. (I knew the guy who used to play piano for them).
Sylvia
Now your talking, Admin & Ken.
Yes I loved the Moody Blues, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Status Quo, the Kinks, the Hollies, the Beech Boys, the Swinging Blue Jeans, the Spencer Davies Group - oh come on you two, help me out here. A girl can only think of so many at this unearthly time of the morning!
Ken R
How about The Mammas & The Pappas ? Supertramp, ABBA,Deep Purple, Hawkwind,Bread,......... Too many memories
Sylvia
Oh Ken, I should've remembered ABBA, I've got all their hits on a CD, also loved Pink Floyd and the Bee Gees too.
Ken R
Don't forget Emmerson, Lake & Palmer, Crosby, Stills & Nash and of course Simon & Garfunfel Sylvia
Sandie Seward
Mann, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Tangerine Dream, ELO.
Ken R
ELO !!! now you're talking Admin What about Roy Wood & Wizaed ? crazy but good
Sandie Seward
Moby Grape, The Doors, Al Stewart, Cat Stevens, Roy Harper, Blondie.
Ken R
Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention
Sandie Seward
Sorry, Ken, never liked them. How's about Fleetwood Mac, Leonard Cohen,Santana, and The Who?
Ken R
Carlos Santana...there's a guy who can make a guitar talk
Sylvia
Hi guys, must confess to not knowing of Moby Grape or Frank Zapper & the Mothers of Invention - what was their big hits?
Sometimes, if I didn't like a particular style of music or the lyrics, I could become oblivious and completely switch off mentally until something more to my taste was being transmitted. Also, I remember rushing out to buy a record, just because I had this schoolgirl crush on the lead singer, many moons ago!
Sylvia
Leonard Cohen, who is he?
Ken R
I know what you mean Sylvia, I still hear tunes I like from years ago and havn't got a clue who they were by
The best Frank Zappa in my opion was his ablum, Weasels Ripped My Flesh a bit wierd I must asmit, but in my youth, I thought they were so cool
Sylvia
No, I've never heard that one Ken - title sounds a bit gorish too!!!
Sandie Seward
Oh Sylvia, you mean to say you have never heard of Leonard Cohen?
His most famous song is 'Susanne'. It's sheer poetry set to music. Cohen can't sing, but the singing is not important, just listen to the lyrics!
Moby Grape were an American West Coast band who had a hit called, "Murder in my heart for the Judge".........(they got busted several times for possession of wacky baccy).
Perhaps Ken will be able to offer help with Frank Zappa. I couldn't stand his music.
Sylvia
Now, if you were to say to me, Tom Jones - I'd still go weak at the knees, or Billy Fury, I'd go halfway to Paradise with him any day. Otis Reading, could just imagine sitting in the dock of the bay with him back in those days. Gene Pitney, I was always looking through the eyes of love.
Just one starry eyed teenager!!
Sylvia
Hmmm! Nope, don't know those titles either Admin. Maybe you'll play those records for me to listen to when I next come and see you at your flat.
Ken R

I guess you girls had more choice of fanciable musicians than us guys did or maybe I was just a late developer The nearest I got to a teenage crush was for the female drummer in Honey & The Honeycombs, who not surprisingly was called .....Honey
Ken R
I almost forgot the real love of my life in music, the very beautiful Frida Lyngstrom of ABBA.......GORGEOUS and still as lovely today as she was then, she has matured beautifully, unlike me
Sandie Seward
Wow! Honey Langtree, now THERE was a beauty. And she was a damn good drummer as well!
And, don't forget Suzie Quatro either, still looks good now.
Ken R
Honey Langtree I never ever knew her second name, that is amazing Admin , thanks She was gorgeous, probably still is Not so sure about Suzi Quatro, I just have this thing about women in leather, it scares the bejezzus outta me I much prefer them like Honey, in a skirt, and yes , you are right again, she was demon drummer, second only to Sandy Nelson in my book
Sandie Seward
Sandy "Let there be drums" Nelson......I have an album of his, an original release on the old 'London' lable.
Priceless!
Oh dear, so you don't like women in leather, Ken?........I wear leather quite a lot, and my favourite item is a very expensive pair of leather trousers that I wear almost all the time.
I adore leather, it's my favourite material, and I have a couple of pairs of trousers and a couple of leather jackets too.
Sorry.
Ken R
I used to have a single of "Let there be drums" year ago, I think I wore it out eventually !
Don't worry about the leather clothes thing Admin, it's whatever you are comfortable in that matters. It's just that women in leather scare me and always have done, don't know what it is, just one of those things
My fav clothes are jeans and cargo pants, I live in them, and shorts in the summer ! Also love my boots and trainers, only have one pair of decent shoes that I can shine and they are bulled to perfection for the few times I have to seen in a suit I also have aboput 60 baseball hats but don't wear them very often !

Hi Folks, did anyone out there in cyberland watch BBC2 on Saturday night at 9.00pm? I switched the channels over, out of idle curiosity and the programme was called 'SUMMER OF 67'
It was an hour long documentary showing film clips of the 'Hippie era' and featured lot's of well known people, some of whom were quite spaced out, 'PEACE MAN!' Paul McCartney was one of them, then another one of the fab four singing 'All You Need is Love'. There was a clip of Brian Epstein. They showed the Rolling Stones and also Twiggy. The Monkeys made an appearance and sang 'Hey, hey, We're The Monkeys' Mary Quant made an appearance too!
Tony Blackburn gave a detailed account of his early years as a DJ on the Pirate Radio Ship Caroline and then they showed you that wonderful ship with it's high mast. Of course that ever endearing tune Caroline, Caroline. I'd forgotten just how dishy Tony Blackburn was when he was aged 21 - age certainly takes it's toll on all of us.
Not only did the documentary highlight the hippies in their weird clothing, it also featured girls in their mini skirts. I used to wear a mini skirt that was as big as a wide belt. My Mum didn't approve, but that was the fashion.
If you watched the programme 'SUMMER OF 67' you won't need me to tell you anymore details of all those wonderful clips which most of us will remember well. However, if you didn't watch it, you missed a really good documentary, lot's of 60's music and lot's of stars as they were back then. Very enjoyable programme, especially if you like 60's music and I do!
