I've seen it all, now.

Is it any wonder why our kids are being raised with little or no standards, of dress or decency?

I can understand the attitude of those shoppers who state that despite rising food prices, they would still rather shop at M.and S or Waitrose, than be seen dead inside a discount store like Aldi's or Lidl's.

This afternoon, I was confronted with the unedifying spectacle of two young women, and a young chap. With them was a baby girl who could not have been much older than three years old.

The two women were actually wearing their pyjama bottoms tucked intp knee length boots, and the man was clad only in a pair of blue jeans and a vest!

It was chilly today, despite the sunshine, and to see these people in the checkout queue just ahead of me, dressed like this, even offended my sensabilities, (believe me that takes some doing).

What were they buying?

Two cartons of juice for the kiddie and two bottles of vodka for themselves!

I was almost ashamed to be part of the so-called human race.  These people should not have visited a public shop dressed the way they were.

Everyone was talking about them, and it made me realise just how low our standards of dress and behaviour have sunk.

Hi Sandie

I'm not sure i completely agree with this point of view.

I've always believed that people should be allowed to be free in what they do, how they dress, have the freedom to express their own point of view (so long as their not rude about it) and be whoever and whatever they want to be.

The only rules that i feel apply is that:

1. They don't go around hurting or harassing other people

And

2. They respect other people's property

Remember the case of Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend who were attacked by a gang of yobs simply because they were Goth's and dressed as such.

Sophie died and her boyfriend survived.

I don't think that these two people deserved to be attacked in anyway simply because of the way they were dressed.

Louise, these people were not being "attacked" for the way they were dressed, but between them they brought down the standards of what should be appropriate apparell to go out shopping in.

They should have kept their P.J. bottoms for wearing indoors, not out in the street.

It looked as though they had been too lazy to even make any effort towards decency.

Surely, to make sure that you are "properly" dressed before going outdoors in the Public Domain, isn't really too much to ask?

Sorry i didn't make myself clear.

When i said:

"I don't think that these two people deserved to be attacked in anyway simply because of the way they were dressed."

I was referring to Sophie Lancaster and Robert Maltby who got attacked by the gang of yobs.

Ah ha! Yes, I agree with you, over that young Goth couple. Goth clothing is really cool, and being a "bit of a Goth" myself, (well, I like the Goth band "Sisters of Mercy", and have been known in the past to wear black nail varnish and black lippy) , I fully agree, that that attack and subsequent murder of Sophie was so totally wrong.

But returning to these creatures in the shop, yesterday, they obviously had either just got out of bed and were too lazy to get dressed properly, or they were so drunk/stoned that they didn't even care, and were quite unaware of the effect they had on the people around them.

When he's on his own, Jackie, he probably is a nice lad, but with his mates they goad each other into silly and thoughtless behaviour.
