When I first started using forums and was scouting round for WW2 poems and stories for my war vets website I met a lady named Dorothy who used to be a nurse during WW2.
Her story is to be found on my Home Front site under “IN LOVING MEMORY.”
I found out through corresponding with Dorothy that after the war she got married and had two children.
The boy was one of the first in this country to have major heart surgery and I am sorry to say her lovely girl named Jane was tragically killed by a car coming home after her first day at her new comprehensive school.

I found out that Jane had written some poetry and I asked Dorothy if she would like me to put some up on my poetry site for folks to read.

After reading Jane’s poems I decided against putting them on my site but I told Dorothy I wanted to have a special site for Jane’s poems if I had her permission to get one sorted out.
Dorothy was over the moon about this so I got together with the person who does my websites and this is the result.

Many folk left wonderful messages in the guest book but spammers decided to keep going in and spoiling it so Dorothy asked for the book to be closed.
I tell you this because if anyone would like to write a message I would willingly pass it on to Dorothy.
She is 85 years of age now but still very lively and any messages would brighten up her day.

To put the crowning glory on the story Jane had written a full story in an exercise book and Dorothy sent it to me to read.
I was SO impressed by the story I asked the chap who published my books if he could print it as it was in Jane’s handwriting plus the little drawings for me to send to Dorothy.

Dorothy was SO overjoyed about the book she had many more printed
and sold them to help the funding of the British Heart Foundation in thanks for saving her sons life.

I hope you enjoy Janes website. I personally thought she was a very talented little girl.

I felt honoured that Dorothy let me be involved in her little girls poetry.
The site has helped her and her son tremendously since it was put up.
She is a lovely lady and I still keep in touch with her.

They were lovely and so very touching. A real reminder that we should tell our family and friends we love them today, because tomorrow may be too late.

It costs nothing to tell loved ones that they are loved and to give them a hug.
