The Man who Saved the World.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown brought the House of Commons to a standstill this afternoon when in answer to a question from Opposition Leader David Camaroon, he declared emphatically,

'I saved the World uh, I mean , we saved the banks from going under by our decision to give them several billions of pounds of the British Taxpayers money.'

The Speaker, Gorbals Mick, tried, in vain to restore order but the sea of guffawing M.P.’s from the Tory benches brought the procedure to a standstill.

'ORDER, ORDER', shouted, Gorbals Mick, trying very hard to stop himself from laughing out loud.

Gordon, resumed his seat, and the waves of laughter and cat calls resounded around the Commons from the ceiling to the Honourable Members’ seats of plush green leatherette.

Gordon was comforted by his Darling, the Chancellor, who threw a friendly arm around his shoulder, and patted him gently.

'There, there, Gordy,' murmured Alistair, softly, 'don’t take on so. They know you didn't mean it'.

'But I did mean it, Ali, I meant what I said, I did save the World, and one day, the World will be truly grateful, you just wait and see.'

'Yes, I know, dear', replied the Chancellor, 'but in the meantime, The Camaroon is demanding an answer, the whole Country is demanding answers, so, get up on your feet, and give them the answers they want.'

Gordon rose to his feet, unsteadily, and turned to face David Cameroon.

'I say, Dave, old chap, time for a Pimms, what?'
