Thomas Walker goes into Administration.Thomas Walker, the metal fastenings maker and one of the oldest manufacturing firms in the West Midlands, went into administration today, putting nearly 60 jobs at risk.
The company, which supplies the clothing industry and which dates back to 1867, said that discussions with its bankers over its possible options had failed to come up with any solutions for its plight.
It added: “Given the ongoing deterioration of the economic climate, the directors believe that the group is now no longer in a position to continue to trade as a going concern.”
Based in Kings Norton, Birmingham, Thomas Walker makes zips, buttons, hook-and-bar waistband fastenings, buckles for belts, surgical fittings and machinery used by tailors.
