TV interview

WOW, what an interesting morning.

It was great to have a steam train in the station in the background and the station master kindly brought out two chairs for the interviewer and myself to sit on in the sunshine.

Quite a bit of filming went off but by the time its cut down there will probably only be a few minutes taken from all the film to show on TV.

After the interview which many people were interested in watching I had to walk towards the train as it was pulling out as I was told to do by the cameraman. I felt a bit daft standing by a moving train so I thought I would do my own thing and gave a wave as though I was saying 'Goodbye' to a loved one. This got the thumbs up from the cameraman so at least I got something right.

To finish off they came back to my home and wanted to take some film of hubby and myself sitting out in the garden just chatting to each other.

We had a laugh because I said its the first time my hubby has sat and listened to what I had to say in all the b****y years we had been married.  Very Happy  Very Happy

As far as I know it will be broadcast on the 2nd of September on BBC East Midland Today. Karen ( producer ) will phone me to verify it.
She is also sending me a DVD of the whole of the filming.

A lovely morning which was enhanced by the lovely sunshine.

Thanks Sandie and Jojo.
I only wish hubby could dub the dvd for you Sandie but he can only transfer videos on to dvd. He has not got the equipment to dub a dvd to another dvd.

The dvd will be just a one off for us so I cant even buy one to pass to you. Crying or Very sad

There will be places where you could get a copy made, Maywalk, it would be nice to have a back-up copy just in case.

This isn't something that happens often. No, I'm wrong similar things have happened to you before haven't they?
Maywalk

Yes it has Marie when Pete Watermans researcher found my evacuee story on the net she contacted me to ask me if she could interview me at the same railway station.
Pete Waterman is steam train mad and he wanted all the stories he could get of them during WW2.
He had sponsored a series to go on TV and I finished up in one of them  talking about the evacuee train I was on that had been spotted by a stray Jerry plane who decided to use us as target practise by machine gunning the train.
Sandie Seward

Have you ever met Pete, May? Only he has long been a icon of mine....both for his love of steam railways and his musical interests? Very Happy
Maywalk

No I have not met him Sandie only his researcher.
To be honest I had NO idea who he was when I went for the interview.
My granddaughter was with me and she was about 12 at the time. She is 18 now so it shows how long ago it was.
Anyway when the researcher said that it was Pete Waterman sponsoring the programe I said I had NEVER heard of him.
I was promptly dug in the ribs by my granddaughter saying in a disgusted voice "Grandma he is on Pop Idol and is a millionaire!"  Very Happy  Laughing

Do you know when the tv broadcast will be shown, Maywalk?
