Visteon Corporation, the struggling US car parts maker, has put its main UK subsidiary into administration with the loss of 565 British jobs.

The company appointed KPMG as administrator to Visteon UK (VUK) in a move which will see jobs axed at its three manufacturing plants in Basildon, Belfast and Enfield. The plants, which produce car parts such as interiors and climate components, employed 610 people.

KPMG said 565 redundancies were made on Tuesday and the remaining staff will wind-down the business. Crying or Very sad
