Got it, Ken. Yes, it's a very early (1937) television set...or "televisor" as it was called in those days.

I thought it might be ! The small screen is just out of sight at the top of the pic if I remember rightly, a guy just up the street from where we lived as kids had a very similar one to that one.

The first television my family had, was rented from a firm called "Radio Rentals". This was around May 1953 in time for Queen Elizabeth's coronation.
I was only eight, but remember all our neighbours coming in to watch it, Mum ran out of chairs and asked them to bring their own if they were staying!!!!
