WindermereWe forgot to take the wet suits, the thermals and the brandy, not even an umbrella between us.
We really enjoyed it even with the fog and rain. Went across the lake on one of the boats. Along the side on the steam train and ate.
It was very hard getting pictures of the steam train there were so many people crowding round. Apart from that as soon as you got to either end of the track the engine shot off and went down the side to the other end. The steam bus was different, they posed with that.
I've just realised I haven't given you a view of the lake.

Thanks for the great photo's, Marie. I found the steam bus a very interesting vehicle. I'd really enjoy a ride in that.
I didn't realise that you had an interest in traffic cones as well
Come down to Essex, we have thousands of them!

Great pics Marie I havn't been to the Lakes since I was a kid of about 10 or so, it doesn't look like it has changed that much
Other than the fact that the steam bus and steam train were both in general service then
i thibnk out of all the times I did go there, it was only fine once
Anyway, sounds like you had a great day

Thank you Ken I stayed at Keswick for a week when I was about 15 but I haven't been since and believe me Derwentwater had nothing. We went walking and played tennis. There weren't even many shops. I would like to go back there and see the changes. I thought that was where I was going until I read the tickets properly.

I don't need much encouragement admin, just give me a reason for going anywhere these days and I'll jump at it (even traffic cones).
