Yanks Weekend.I have spend the weekend in Uppermill, Oldham where the havehad a WW2 Victory weekend. There was a parade of Military vehicles and various displays. The Civic Hall Had a big Glan Miller type band playing for dancing,especially jiving, and a 1940's meal served in a gas mask box. People dress up in English, American. and even German uniforms and styles of the time, the whole village is taken over for the weekend everywhere there is music,music,musi. The pubs carparks put up margues and have various displays,and stalls, and live music for JUMP JIVIN' , LINDY HOPIN, GENERAL HOPPIN,BOPPIN, AND SWINGIN'. all day and late into the evenings the streets are crowded and full of atmosphere. Dorramae, I went to one of those 1940's evenings some while back and I thought it was going to be dull, but it certainly wasn't dull, it was brilliant!
