I was rushed into hospital on the 28th May with severe breathing difficulties, and a CT Scan discovered a bloodclot on my lungs, they also had to give me FOUR units of blood as I had become very anemic....but the real crunch came when they also discovered that I am suffering from breast cancer!

I only returned home on Wednesday afternoon, and although my breathing has stabalized, I am still feeling very weak, and I have to return as an "Out Patient" to the Breast Clinic on Tuesday of next week.

I shall also have to take the blood thinning drug "Clexane" by injection for the rest of my life.

However, I am back, and raring to go.

Thank you both for your kindness and warm wishes, please don't worry too much I fully intend fighting this thing with every ounce of strength I possess.

I do not intend to give in to it. I am getting a hell of a lot of support not only from my friends, but from outside agencies like the McMillian Nurses and the local District Nurses too.

Everyone has been great and really helpful, so I am very, very lucky.

Your Admin will be around for some while yet, so don't worry!!!!!

Even though I started taking the steroids in the morning so presumably they wouldn't interfere with my sleep....that is exactly what they have done.

I went to bed just after midnight and by three a.m. was wide awake again and raring to go!

So, I have spent some time in catching up with comments on Newsvine and articles that I have missed. My "place" on the Newsvine "Leader Board" has slipped a lot, as has my "payments" for May due to lack of new articles or seeds.

But, when you are not feeling well, just how can you concentrate on writing or trolling through the News Websites for interesting stories?

Difficult.

No new Podcasts either for a while, but I so intend rectifying this omission this weekend.

Oh, committments.......sometimes you just do not feel like being able to keep them up, do you.?

Sandie I had the same problem with steroids The doctor did give me sleeping pills but they never really did any good, steroids kick in about eight hours after you have taken them, so in the end I started taking them in the evening and found that this worked for me, why not give it a go!!

I was advised to do the opposite. To take them in the mornings so that they would be less potent by the time I was ready for bed! Confused

I had a good talk with the Consultant at the hospital today about my "condition", and he confirmed that yes, it is cancer, but they think that they have discovered it early enough to be able to treat it with the Steroids and other medication I am taking.

There may be no need for intrusive surgery or radiotherapy or chemo.

It seems that I am, indeed, "lucky", although I will need to be monitored regularly and my blood will require testing regularly as well.

I will have to stay on the injections for the rest of my natural, also some of the other medication.

So, although I most certainly have got cancer, I may just be fortunate enough to "survive" it........, here's hoping, as I am "too young" to die, still have plenty of things that I want to do before shuffling off this mortal coil!!!!

Joan you are so right. It really does make one re-evaluate life and the way that it is lived.

Having a "scare" like this has shook me out of my complacency, and made me take stock, count my blessings, and generally try to be nicer to people.

I've just noticed this, Sandie, I'm so sorry. I've got to say you sound as though you've come to terms with it and your attitude is certainly going to help you fight it. Hoping you get better news soon.

How about the breathing problems have they got to the bottom of them?

Yes thank you, Marie, my breathing difficulties were caused by my anemia, thickening of the blood, blood clots on my lung, and, of course they discovered my cancer as well.

I went through hell and back a couple of months ago, and it is only this week that I have really started to feel better again.

Good to see you are back with us, this Forum has been very quiet lately. (Not that you are particularly noisy, you understand.

After almost two whole weeks of virtually pain-free movement, it caught up with me again today.

My own stupid fault....lifting a computer from the floor to a worktop level. I felt my back "go" again, and it did not seem too bad during the day. I even managed a fifty mile drive. But then. tonight, when I went to bed it was a different story. I tried to turn over onto my left side from laying on my back, and I literally screamed out in agony. My back seemed to "lock up" and I couldn't move, either way.

The more I tried, the more painful it became, and I ended up very tense and crying with the pain.

After a while, I tried to relax, and "relaxed all my muscles for over an hour. By doing this, I managed to get into a posistion where I could roll my legs over and out of bed onto the carpet. Then I could painfully stand up. So now, I have partly dressed, and come back into the living room with a cup of tea.
I also have an hot water bottle against the area where the worst pain is.

Crying or Very sad

You're sure it's heat you need not cold. I spent the whole of the week before last moving from settee to bed in agony. Nothing serious just wear and tear on the little muscles down the sides of the spine, due to the way I used to work. It happens from time to time the muscles have seized up and if I need to do close work with both hands they become inflamed.

I normally use Elliman's Embrocation and a cold pack but in desperation on the Saturday I got some Boots cold gel and felt it working immediately on individual muscles. It was quite frightening for a few minutes but relieved it almost immediately. Heat causes me agony when I'm like that.

The heat has sorted the pain, thankfully, I am mobile again, but still haven't had any sleep yet.

I'm going to sit up again tonight in my comfy chair instead of going in to bed, and see how I feel then.
Confused

I snuggled down into my comfy chair last night with my hot water bottle and the single duvet I keep for stopovers.

I had a very comfortable night's sleep, and awoke early this morning feeling almost totally refreshed.

I think I made the right choice by not sleeping in my bed last night after all.
Very Happy

Glad you had a better night Sandie, did you prop your feet up?

Some times sitting can put less strain on the back, but keep it ward
