It seems that the photo of my Tarantula isn't very popular. Only seventeen "hits", and about five of those "hits" are mine.
C'mon, peeps, she's not THAT bad looking! _________________ http://sewardchronicles.ning.com/
I have never understood why people are so scared of Tarantulas. I suppose the film industry is much to blame, showing them as killers. A bite from a Tarantula can be painful, like a bee sting, but is rarely fatal. I was surprised how light they are when walking on your hand. We "babysat" one for one of my colleagues at work, many years ago. He named her "Myra Hindley"!! My wife thought it was great, but wasn't too keen on feeding it live crickets.
How many do you have now, Sandie? _________________
Down to one at present, Sherrif, my little spiderling sadly died. Apparently the babies are very difficult to raise, and although her moult was successful, for some reason she didn't survive.
It does seem rather cruel to have to feed them live crickets, as I also like crickets, and have two small colonies of them. That "live food" issue is, in my opinion, the only "downside" of Tarantula keeping.
