Posted: Wed May 14, 2008 10:42 pm Post subject: Albino Fulicas, arriving soon.
I've just had a great result, and I have found two ALBINO FULICA's (White Jade) snails on eBay.
I have been looking for a pair of these little beauties for ages, and tonight I have bought a pair.
They are quite rare snails, very attractive, having white bodies and light colour shells. (See picture).
I have been in touch with the Snail Sanctuary website, and I have volunteered to become, not only a Member, but to offer homes for unwanted or uncared for snails.
When my Albinos get larger, I shall be showing them at places like County Shows and Fetes, and letting people see just what beautiful pets they make.
Can't wait to recieve them.
P.S. JoJo, the snails you kindly sent me are all doing fine, they are eating and don't appear to have suffered any ill-effects of their quick dash via the Royal Mail. (Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "Snail Mail", doesn't it.) _________________ http://sewardchronicles.ning.com/
Quick update on the Albino's. I have recieved an e.mail this morning from the Seller, who told me that she has posted them today. They will need to be signed for, which is a flippin' drag, because it means that I shall have to stay in for most of the day, until they arrive.
I have already prepared their new home for them, so now it's just a question of waiting, and waiting............ _________________ http://sewardchronicles.ning.com/
These two latest additions will take the total to eleven, JoJo.
I also have about thirty fertile eggs from the Gals which are waiting to hatch. (You can tell if they are fertile because the shells turn yellow. If they remain white, then they are not fertile and will not hatch.)
What I intend to do with the Albino's is to breed from them, and then sell the babies. They fetch around a tenner a pair. This money will go towards the upkeep and advertising of my new Snail Sanctuary. _________________ http://sewardchronicles.ning.com/

I just timed it right this morning. I was up fairly early and down the market for a quick look-around. Bought three lovely Diecast Coaches, a Corgi Bedford O.B. and two EFE Harringtons, a Grenadier, and a Cavalier. The O.B. is in Mint condition and sports "Eastern Counties" livery.
The two Harringtons are also in good condition, one in "Grey Cars" livery, the other in "Grey-Green" colours.
But, I digress from the topic of this post.
I had only just got home, made a cup of tea, when my front door buzzer sounded. It was the Postman who had brought my snails, which I had to sign for.
So, it all worked out very well regarding timing. The problem with the post these days is you never know what time it'll turn up. And as they were sent "Next Day Special Delivery", it meant a signature, and being home when they arrived.
They are quite tiny, but the Albino white is very pronounced. They both appear to be healthy and none the worse for their ordeal by mail, thankfully.
As I write this, one of them is already exploring her new home, the other has come out of her shell, but hasn't moved too far yet.
Both the Jades are doing well, starting to eat regularly, and seem to have got over their ordeal by "Snail Mail". They have even grown a little, although they are still very timid, and don't appear to enjoy being handled too much as yet. _________________ http://sewardchronicles.ning.com/
My Margies (Giant African Landsnails) have so far given me four babies. They are in the tank somewhere, but because they are so small, I find it hard to spot them, sometimes. I also have many more eggs, not sure if they will hatch or not. _________________ http://sewardchronicles.ning.com/
