Ospreys have colonised Northumberland for the first time in more than 200 years, say conservationists.

A pair of birds has settled on a specially-built platform near Kielder Water, Europe's largest man-made lake.

It's great news to hear they are back in my home county Sandie. I've seen ospreys up in Scotland may years ago and they are magnificant birds to watch.

I have just seen a pair of Red Kites today over my village, rumour has it that they nesting in woods on a hill just behind the village. A couple of weeks ago on a trip to Corby to do some shopping, I saw a total of 14 Red Kites soaring in various place along the 20 mile journey. These are also truly great looking birds and the effortless way they soar and wheel around in the currents and updrafts has to be seen to be believed !

It is wonderful news Ken, I love watching birds and if I can still go to Northumberland later this year, (no hill-walking, though), I will try to drive over to Kielder and see if I can see them.

My holiday options are still open, but I need to know first the type of treatment that they propose for me before I can make any firm arrangements.

I have not been watching it, Joan, because it "clashes" usually with my "Soaps".

However, I have heard that it's a lovely programme, well worth watching if you're into Wildlife and Nature.
Very Happy
