The Antique and Collectors fayre at Tynemouth every Saturday, I love it we try to go at least once a year. They have a wonderful book sale as well but I haven't managed to catch that.

It was buzzing that Saturday we had a great day. Most of it is rubbish of course. Rolling Eyes

I was so busy wondering why the horse on the bottom right was £599 I missed the little threewheeler gem on the table. After looking on their website I discovered they were popular in the early 1900's.

God ! that brings back memories Marie, I was born in Tynemouth and lived just around the corner from the station until I was about 7 or 8 years old. I used to spend hours there watching the trains go through, the old DMUs on the loop from Newcastle to the coast and back, steam trains hauling mixed goods wagons and in the summer, seaside excursions bringing the grockles in ! I used to buy my first diecast cars, Matchbox ones, from the little newsagent stand on the station ! They used to have big old cast iron machine on that platform that you could put an old penny in and swing a big brass pointer around an embossed alphabet on the top and pull a big lever on the side down and it stamped out a metal name tag for you ! You don't see THEM anymore these days !

I'm glad to see the station is in a good state of preservation, it actually looks a lot cleaner and well looked after now than it ever did in my day !

Thank you very much for those photos, they reallly bring back happy memories Very Happy Very Happy

It does look a nice place, just a pity that it can never be used again for it's original purpose. Sad
Funny you should call them "Grockles", Ken. That's exactly what we used to call holidaymakers to Weymouth! Laughing

It's still an active, live station Sandie, the trains continue to rumble through whilst the antique fair is on Shocked It's on the Newcastle Metro route now, but I think the trains still go in a loop from Newcastle to the coast and back around again. It's probably a long time since a steam engine has passed through though Sad
