As some of you may know, I am seriously considering standing in my local elections as a Candidate for my Local Authority.
I have carefully looked at the Main Parties and do not really like what I see enough to trust any of them.
I had been thinking of standing as an Independent and this is what I thought I would have to do, until something came along today and changed that completely.
I was given a copy of the "English Voice" newspaper which is the paper of the English Democrats Party.
Their policies seem to be neither Left-Wing, nor Right-Wing, but a coalition of Common Sense,
When I arrived home, I made a couple of phonecalls, and spoke to a very interesting man called Stephen Uncles. He put me in touch with Brian Lee who is Chairman for my area.
I know Brian, as our paths met whilst I was involved with UKIP. Like myself, Brian became disallusioned with that Party, and joined the English Democrats.
He was so pleased to hear from me, and now it looks as if I will be nominated to stand for Councillor on the "English Democrats " Platform.
As you can imagine, I am very exceited by this, and I can see my life starting to get extremely busy between now and the date of the Local Elections.

well done you ! I hope you will keep us informed of your rising political career ! I have often thought about doing something along similar lines but unfortunately, I'm unable to stand for any political party/postion at eh moment . One day in the future, who knows eh ?
Thanks for the good wishes, Ken. I visited my local Housing Office this morning, and they have promised to send me a Nomination Form along with a copy of the Electoral Register.
I shall require ten Nominees to sign my papers, and so far, I have at least six people who are willing to do so.
I don't in all honesty, think that there is very much chance of my getting elected, but if I don't stand then how else will I ever know?
One thing I do know, is that people I talk to locally, (and when I am out and about, I talk to a lot of people), are totally fed up with our present regime Nationally, and will, hopefully, use this chance of a local vote, to show their displeasure. This is what I shall be counting on, anyway. _________________ http://sewardchronicles.ning.com/
Thank you, Sherif[. I have one question, just why do they make the Nomination fors so damned complicated.?
They arrived this morning, along with a One Hundred and Eleven page "Guidance for candidates and agents book! " _________________ http://sewardchronicles.ning.com/
The "English Democrats" have not sent me a Membership Pack as promised, nor have they contacted me at all.
Very disapointed, but not really surprised. To even consider being chosen as a Candidate you need to have money or status. I have neither, so they can all get stuffed!!!!
I used to find the Housing Meetings interminably boring, just imagine what Full-Blown Council Meetings would be like.
Too much Political Correctness nonsense. I believe in calling a spade a spade. Speak your mind these days, and they don't like you, even if they secretly agree with you.
Oh Dear Sandie, but I think you are right, they don't like it when someone gets up and tells the truth do they, I think all the politicians are a load of crooks and that includes local councillors, why else are they not willing to let us see their expences. _________________
Sandie, you would have been so incensed at their reasoning and complete disregard for the people who voted them in you would have been living in a permanent state of agitation.
At least you've got the opportunity to put your thoughts on councillors and politicians into writing and get them read. Isn't it a shame, though, that we now think of all councillors and politicians as selfish, money grabbing, biased, sleaze-bags and they're not all like that.
